NEW DELHI: Mumbai’s monorail services were disrupted yet again on Monday after a train heading towards Wadala abruptly halted due to a power supply snag.Passengers were stranded inside the stalled rake until officials transferred them onto another train arriving from Chembur. The Fire Brigade later joined the operation.Confirming the disruption, Rajesh Ananda Bhojane, Ward Councillor (RPI–Athawale), said, “The train stopped en route to Wadala. Officials cited a supply issue. I urge the government to fix these recurring glitches at the earliest.”This isn’t the first such breakdown. In August, 582 passengers were stranded for over three hours between Chembur and Bhakti Park after a similar power failure triggered by overcrowding. That incident left 23 people treated on-site for suffocation, while two required hospital care at Sion. The massive rescue then had involved the BMC, police, and fire personnel deploying snorkel vehicles to evacuate passengers, with BEST buses arranged to ferry them to nearby railway stations.
