Prayagraj: Panic gripped Sarwadeeh village and adjoining areas under the limits of Phulpur police station on Monday after some unknown persons damaged the statue of Dr BR Ambedkar a day before Ambedkar Jayanti.On being informed, senior police and administrative officials arrived at the spot and replaced the damaged statue with a new one. The officials assured the villagers of taking stern action against the miscreants.According to the sources, some unidentified miscreants vandalised the statue of Dr BR Ambedkar at Sarwadeeh village on Sunday midnight. The villagers found the statue damaged on the next day and informed the police.
