The administration of Karnataka Public School (KPS), a government institution at Begar in Sringeri taluk of Chikkamagaluru district in Karnataka, allegedly enrolled four of its regular students as private candidates for the SSLC examination – apparently to achieve a high pass percentage.

The parents of the four students have filed complaints with senior officials against the school staff. In their complaints, the parents stated that their children had been attending KPS Begar regularly, and had been students of the school for three years. Some of them had won prizes in sports competitions.
