Karnataka: DC sends Hassan City Corporation Commissioner on compulsory leave

Hassan Deputy Commissioner K.S. Lathakumari has sent R. Krishnamurthy, the Commissioner of Hassan City Corporation, on compulsory leave for an act of carelessness in connection to the clearance of municipal solid waste in the city.

The Deputy Commissioner, in an official memo issued on Tuesday, stated that during an inspection early in the day, she noticed solid waste in many wards of the city and spotted heaps of waste close to the Hunasinakere tank. She instructed the commissioner to clear the waste immediately.

However, the commissioner maintained that he could not clear the waste as he was facing a shortage of staff. “The commissioner responded with carelessness to the instruction and his conduct was not suitable for a government official,” Ms. Lathakumari said. She ordered him to go on compulsory leave with effect from Tuesday and gave Hassan Urban Development Authority Commissioner K.M. Ramesh the additional charge of corporation commissioner.
