Kanwar Mela 2026: No entry for heavy vehicles in Haridwar from August 5

Haridwar Police has released a detailed traffic plan to ensure smooth traffic flow during the Kanwar Mela 2026.

The most significant decision concerns the movement of heavy vehicles on the national highway. From July 29 to August 4, heavy vehicles will be permitted on the highway only between 12:00 AM and 4:00 AM, whereas their operation will be completely prohibited from August 5 to August 11, 2026.

Additionally, the entry of Kanwar-related vehicles onto the Delhi-Dehradun Expressway will be strictly prohibited. The police have urged the public to review the traffic plan before setting out on a journey during the Kanwar Mela.

The holy month of Shravan begins on July 28. This year, the four Mondays of the month fall on August 3, 10, 17, and 24, while the main festival of Shravan Shivratri will be celebrated on August 11. In view of this, a phased route diversion and parking arrangement has been implemented in the district.

Designated routes have been established for vehicles arriving from Delhi, Meerut, Muzaffarnagar, Manglaur, Haryana, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Saharanpur, Dehradun, Rishikesh, Nainital, and Najibabad during normal days. Separate routes have been designated for Kanwar-related vehicles.
