Students form a human chain to mark International Girl Child Day at Kothacheruvu in Sri Sathya Sai district on Friday.

The Sri Sathya Sai District Child Protection Unit on Friday (October 9, 2026) celebrated International Girl Child Day at the Government High School for Girls in Kothacheruvu.
Addressing the students, Circle-Inspector S. Rajasekhar advised the students to limit their mobile usage, stay away from social media, and focus on studies. He asked them to set goals and pursue them with discipline.
District Child Protection Officer M. Mahesh said that girls are excelling in education, jobs, and administration, and urged them to use social media to gain positive knowledge, develop their talents, and move ahead with perseverance and confidence to reach top positions.
Later, students took out a rally from the school to Kothacheruvu crossroads raising slogans on girls’ rights, importance of education, equal opportunities, and empowerment. They formed a human chain at the junction and took a pledge for girls’ welfare.
Members of the Child Welfare Committee, NGOs, teachers, parents, and students participated in the event.
