New Delhi: The U.S. Embassy in India and the U.S. Consulate General Kolkata, in partnership with the Observer Research Foundation, hosted the New Delhi chapter of the U.S. Strategic Framework for the Indo-Pacific: Northeastern Dialogue at the The Park New Delhi on March 12.

The event underscored America’s partnership with India in ensuring a free, open, and prosperous Indo-Pacific, the release stated, stated a press statemen.

According to the release, the dialogue aimed to ground Indo-Pacific and Quad policy discussions in regional realities and highlighted how India’s Northeast could align with American economic and strategic interests. This includes expanding market access, strengthening resilient supply chains, and creating new opportunities for American businesses.

The initiative also reinforces the United States’ commitment to a results-driven U.S.–India partnership that advances regional security, economic competitiveness, and long-term prosperity for both countries, it added.

The dialogue marked the final event of an 18-month project funded by the U.S. Consulate General Kolkata focusing on the U.S. Strategic Framework for the Indo-Pacific and the role of the Quadrilateral Security Dialogue in supporting trade, connectivity, security, and economic growth in India’s Northeast.

As part of the project, six regional policy dialogues were held across northeastern states including Meghalaya, Assam, Sikkim, Tripura, Mizoram and Manipur (held virtually), followed by a national-level dialogue in Kolkata and the concluding session in New Delhi.

More than 230 stakeholders from government, business, academia, media, and civil society participated in the dialogues, focusing on opportunities to integrate India’s Northeast into America-led Quad and Indo-Pacific supply chains, trade corridors, and connectivity networks.

The release further stated that America’s engagement in the Bay of Bengal and the wider Indo-Pacific reflects its broader commitment to a free, open, and rules-based regional order.
