Indian naval diving support craft A20 commissioned

The Indian naval diving support craft, A20, was commissioned into the Indian Navy on Tuesday (December 16, 2025) at Naval Base, Kochi.

DSC A20 is the eleventh ship to be commissioned this year bearing a significant milestone in indigenous shipbuilding capability, according to a release.

Vice Admiral Sameer Saxena, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Southern Naval Command, presided over the commissioning ceremony. The event marked the formal induction of DSC A20 into active service.

DSC A20 is a modern catamaran-hull vessel, equipped with advanced diving systems and state-of-the-art underwater video monitoring, recording and tracking facilities, according to the release.

With enhanced endurance, manoeuvrability, and contemporary diving infrastructure, DSC A20 will enhance underwater preparedness and serve as an essential force multiplier in the Indian Navy’s maritime security architecture, it said.
