The Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee is hosting its flagship annual technical festival, Cognizance 2026, from March 13-15, 2026. This three-day event will bring together thousands of young innovators, technology experts, and creative thinkers from across the country on a platform of innovation, competition, and collaboration. Widely recognized as Asia’s second-largest technical festival, Cognizance has consistently provided a powerful platform for technological exploration, collaborative learning, and innovation-driven competitions.
This year’s event is based on the theme of Empyrean Technogenesis, reflecting the transformative role of technology in shaping the future of society. The three-day festival is expected to attract over 25,000 participants from over 3,000 colleges. They will have the opportunity to engage with cutting-edge technologies, interdisciplinary challenges, and real-life innovation ecosystems.
Organized by IIT Roorkee students, Cognizance has grown into one of Asia’s largest student-run technology festivals, fostering a culture of creativity, innovation, and technical excellence.
Cognizance 2026 will feature over 50 competitions and technical events, including major competitions such as Armageddon, Flight Fury, Scythe CTF, and InnoWave. These competitions will test participants’ creativity, engineering skills, and problem-solving abilities. With a total prize pool of over ₹50 lakh, the festival will inspire young talent to push the boundaries of technological innovation.
The festival will also feature over 15 industry-led workshops and expert sessions, hosted by leading organizations such as Microsoft, Myntra, Meesho, and American Express. Participants will gain valuable insights into emerging technologies, industry insights, and entrepreneurial opportunities. Cognizance 2026 is supported by key partners and initiatives such as Make in India, Skill India, HiLabs, JioSaavn, The Coca-Cola Company, and BenQ, demonstrating industry-academia collaboration.
