Dehradun: In view of the continuous rainfall in the district and the warning issued by the Meteorological Department, the Dehradun administration has declared a one-day holiday on September 1, 2026 for all educational institutions (Classes 1 to 12) and Anganwadi centers. This order applies to all government, government-aided, and private schools in the district.
The order issued by the district administration states that, according to the latest weather forecast and ‘nowcast’ received from the India Meteorological Department (Dehradun) and the National Disaster Management Authority’s (NDMA) National Disaster Alert Portal, there is a likelihood of heavy to very heavy rainfall, lightning, and spells of extremely intense rain in some parts of Dehradun district over the next 24 hours. An ‘Orange Alert’ has been issued for the district in light of these weather conditions.

The administration has taken this decision to ensure the safety of children, anticipating potential disasters or untoward incidents. As per the order, all government, private, and government-aided schools conducting classes from 1 to 12 in Dehradun district will remain completely closed on September 1. Additionally, all Anganwadi centers in the district will also remain closed.
