A man arrested for murdering an eight-year-old boy in Gujarat’s Sabarkantha district has also confessed to killing the child’s 12-year-old elder brother a year earlier, police said.

ACCUSED KILLED ONE BROTHER A YEAR AGO

The revelation emerged during the interrogation of Savanji Thakor, who is in police custody in connection with the kidnapping and murder of the eight-year-old.

Police said the boy was kidnapped and murdered, following which his body was thrown into a well. While questioning Thakor about his murder, police also uncovered details about the disappearance of his 12-year-old elder brother.

According to police, Thakor confessed to killing the 12-year-old about a year ago and disposing of his body in a check dam.

LAND DISPUTE, BLACK MAGIC SUSPICION BEHIND KILLINGS

Police said a long-standing dispute over a plot of land between the family and Thakor, along with superstition, was behind the killings.

The accused allegedly believed that the family of the two minor brothers was responsible for misfortunes facing his own family and suspected that black magic could be involved, police said. The family had also allegedly faced pressure from Thakor over the plot for a long time.

The 12-year-old had been missing for the past year, with his family hoping that he would eventually return. During interrogation, Thakor allegedly revealed that he had kidnapped the boy and pushed him into the deep waters of a check dam, killing him.

Following the confession, police registered another murder case against Savanji Thakor and initiated further legal proceedings. The accused remains in police custody as the investigation continues.
