Vijayawada, May 1 – As part of the ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’ initiative, Andhra Pradesh Governor Sri S. Abdul Nazeer attended the Gujarat and Maharashtra Formation Day celebrations at Lok Bhavan on Friday, serving as the Chief Guest. Speaking on the occasion, he highlighted Gujarat’s history, noting its celebration as ‘Gujarat Gaurav Divas’. He stated that Gujarat’s ancient roots trace back to the Vedic era, with notable sites like the Somnath Temple and Girnar.
The Governor emphasised Gujarat’s growth since 1960, leading in textiles, agriculture, and maritime trade, with ports serving as gateways to India’s prosperity. He also highlighted Maharashtra’s size, population, and economic significance, including Mumbai’s role as India’s financial and film hub, contributing around 15% to national industrial output. The event featured video messages from Gujarat and Maharashtra Governors, folk songs by Kumari Vaishnavi, and a Garba dance by the Gujarati Samaj. Officials, staff, and students from Gujarat and Maharashtra attended.
