Ghaziabad Karva Chauth outing turns violent, family beaten over bike headlight

A Karva Chauth celebration in Ghaziabad was marred by violence on Wednesday evening when a woman, her husband, and their son were allegedly assaulted following a confrontation over a motorcycle headlight. The chaotic incident was captured on CCTV footage, which is now circulating widely on social media.

The family had visited the Kotwali Nagararea to get Mehendi done ahead of the festival. According to police and eyewitness accounts, the dispute began when a young man on a motorcycle arrived and his vehicle’s headlight shone directly into the woman’s face.

When the woman reportedly asked the man to switch off his light, he ignored her request. Her husband then intervened and allegedly turned off the headlight himself. This action is said to have angered the motorcycle rider, who promptly called two of his associates to the scene.

The situation quickly escalated into a physical assault. The three men reportedly began physically attacking the woman’s husband and son. The woman, who attempted to stop the fight, also sustained injuries during the scuffle.

Police have confirmed they have identified the suspects based on the clear footage of the incident. One suspect is currently in custody and is being questioned by authorities.

“Further investigation is underway,” a police official stated, adding that they are working to apprehend the remaining individuals involved in the assault. The family’s condition and the specific nature of their injuries have not been fully disclosed at this time.
