The final of the Cariappa Football Tournament, held at the Bouradi Stadium as part of the Tehri Lake Festival 2026, was a thrilling one. Garhwal Heroes defeated 14 Garhwal Rifles 2–1 to win the tournament title. Earlier, in the second semi-final, Garhwal Heroes defeated IIM-T Meerut 1–0 to reach the final. In the first semi-final, 14 Garhwal Rifles defeated 7 Garhwal Rifles 4–1 to reach the final. The final saw a fierce contest between the two teams, but ultimately, Garhwal Heroes displayed a superb performance, winning 2–1.
At the conclusion of the tournament, the winning team, Garhwal Heroes, received a prize money of ₹1.5 lakh, the runner-up, 14 Garhwal Rifles, received ₹75,000, while the third and fourth-place teams received ₹25,000 each. District Magistrate Nitika Khandelwal, Chief Development Officer Varuna Agarwal, BJP District President Uday Rawat, and Municipal Council President Mohan Singh Rawat presented the winning team with a trophy and a cheque. On this occasion, District Magistrate Nitika Khandelwal congratulated the winning team and wished all the players well for the future. She said that the players are known for their discipline and sportsmanship.
