Prayagraj: Om Namah Shivaya’s massive community kitchen at Magh Mela will now run till Maha Shivratri (Feb 15) due to overwhelming demand.The colossal community kitchen has been serving devotees round-the-clock since Nov, with over 3 crore plates served. ‘The scale of devotion is massive,’ says Shivam Singh, manager, Om Namah Shivaya. The kitchen’s staggering consumption includes 38 DCM trucks of potatoes, 15 trucks of flour, 25 trucks of rice, and more. He added that cooking for the massive crowd required a whopping 500 tractor-loads of wood and gas.

Singh mentioned that food prep happens at four key spots: Lal Sadak in Parade, Triveni Marg, Galla Mandi in Daraganj, and Sangam Lower Chowk. Distribution’s a big operation – they’re covering the fair area, bus station, railway station, and more, using 20 e-rickshaws and a dozen vehicles to feed everyone, including police and other departments. The Gurudev of Om Namah Shivaya emphasizes serving humanity through food as life’s ultimate goal, ensuring no one goes hungry. The organization plans to celebrate its 50th foundation day with grandeur in Jan 2027.Since Jan 3, millions have savoured meals at Om Namah Shivaya’s Bhandara. While other kitchens closed post-Maghi Purnima, this one keeps going – devotees are still flocking for food, day and night.Om Namah Shivaya Prayagraj’s community kitchen has been serving at Magh Mela for 49 years, making it the largest. Besides Prayagraj, the organisation runs big kitchens in Ayodhya Dham, Kanpur, Lucknow, and Sitapur – feeding med students and more in these cities.
