Ex-MNNIT registrar, professor allege assault; FIR lodged | Prayagraj News

Prayagraj: An FIR has been lodged after two professors of Motilal Nehru National Institute of Technology (MNNIT) claimed that they were allegedly assaulted by two men inside the campus on Oct 10.According to the FIR, former registrar of MNNIT Prof Ramesh Pandey, a resident of the MNNIT staff colony, along with Prof Ravi Prakash, was out for a walk after visiting a temple inside the campus when Utkarsh Tiwari — a director of a company in the Industrial Estate — arrived by car with his father, Prof Ram Prakash, and began hurling verbal abuse. When the victim made an attempt to record a video with his mobile, the opponents assaulted them. The attackers even struck him with a security guard’s baton and then repeatedly slammed the victims onto the ground. Both the professors sustained injuries, and the attackers threatened to kill them.It was also alleged that the opponents had earlier engaged in misconduct several times.Following the incident, Prof Ramesh Pandey got the FIR lodged under Sections 115 (2), 352 and 351 (2) of BNS at Shivkuti police station against Utkarsh and his father.A senior officer said police were carrying out investigations and legal action would be initiated based on the probe.
