PRAYAGRAJ: The eighth edition of ‘Ethereal Melodies’ brought a musical evening to life at the North Central Zone Cultural Centre (NCZCC) on Sunday, captivating the audience with soulful performances by young and talented musician, Karan Kumar.The highlight of the event was the enthralling instrumental performance by Karan Kumar, son of the two eminent senior medicos of the Sangam city, the pediatrician Dr. Ranjana and physician Dr Kamal Kumar. Beginning his recital with Raag Bhimpalasi, Karan moved seamlessly through a series of iconic Bollywood melodies including classic romantic and soulful tunes that won loud applause from the audience. His skilful command over rhythm and melody reflected his years of rigorous training under Pandit Revati Raman Chaturvedi and his advanced diploma in classical music from the Prayag Sangeet Samiti.“Karan’s performance was a delightful blend of classical purity and modern charm,” said one of the spectators, expressing admiration for his versatile artistry. Karan, who began his musical journey at the age of 12, continues to explore new dimensions in instrumental fusion.The program opened with a graceful Bharatanatyam dance by four year old Dhyara, offering a devotional invocation. Later, Delhi’s Arjun Kapoor engaged the crowd with a lively guitar medley, while Karan’s ten-year-old nephew, Divij Chaturvedi, enchanted everyone with his melodious rendition of evergreen songs.The evening was smoothly anchored by Shubhra Chaturvedi and Dr. Shivanjali Kumar Chaturvedi, marking another successful and memorable chapter in the Ethereal Melodies series.Adding to the charm to the evening was the large gathering of eminent personalities of the city including senior doctors, Dr Prof V B.Sahay who is the former Vice Chancellor of Subharti University, Meerut along with former DGME, Uttar Pradesh and former Principal of M.L.N.Medical College, Prayagraj. Interestingly, Dr Sahay has taught both Dr Kamal Kumar and his wife and also their daughter in their respective MBBS classes.The evening was also graced by the presence of Justice Piyush Agarwal of Allahabad High Court and two former Judges of Allahabad High court, Justice (retd) Bharti Sapru and Justice (retd) Arun Tandon.
