The South Indian Film Editors Association (SIFEA) has officially suspended editor Pradeep E. Ragav. This decision follows the controversial online leak of the upcoming film Jana Nayagan. While the association clarified that Ragav was not directly responsible for the illegal upload, they cited professional negligence. Ragav reportedly admitted that lapses in his oversight contributed to the security breach. Additionally, the committee found him in violation of union bylaws for repeatedly employing non-union members as assistants. When non-members are recruited, control on content is hard to ensure. The association has withdrawn all cooperation and support for the editor until further notice to protect industry integrity.
The leak happened earlier this month. Fans of actor Vijay expressed deep heartbreak and frustration over the unauthorized release of HD footage. Many supporters called for strict legal action against those involved in the piracy.
