Delhi Police has rubbished social media claims that a truck parked near Jantar Mantar during the Cockroach Janta Party’s (CJP) protest was deliberately stationed as part of a conspiracy against protesters, calling the allegations “false and misleading.”
In a statement, police clarified that Truck No. HR63 E 6865 had been seized on July 16, 2026, in connection with an FIR registered after a road accident involving the truck and an EECO van, in which six people were injured.
According to Delhi Police, the vehicle was initially parked near Parliament Street police station due to space constraints after being seized.
Ahead of the “Chalo Sansad” protest, it was emptied and shifted to a safer location in the early hours of July 20 after due instructions to its owner.
Police said any attempt to link the truck to a conspiracy against protesters was “completely baseless” and urged people not to circulate unverified information.
Separately, the Delhi Police’s Intelligence Fusion & Strategic Operations (IFSO) unit has issued notices to Facebook, Instagram, YouTube and X, asking the platforms to remove posts and videos that allegedly spread false and misleading information related to the violence during the CJP protests.
According to police sources, thousands of posts, including alleged deepfake videos and misleading content about the protests and the subsequent violence, were shared across social media platforms by multiple accounts, including some social media-based news portals.
The IFSO unit has asked the platforms to take action against such content following complaints received from users who reported misleading posts.
Delhi Police said it has been receiving continuous complaints from the public regarding misinformation related to the protests and has requested social media companies to act against the identified content in accordance with the law.
