Cold wave alert in 11 Telangana districts on December 22

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a cold wave alert in 11 Telangana districts for Monday, December 22.

According to IMD’s latest bulletin, cold wave conditions are very likely to prevail at isolated pockets in Adilabad, Kumaram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial, Nirmal, Warangal, Hanamkonda, Jangaon, Siddipet, Sangareddy, Medak and Kamareddy districts.

Hyderabad and its surrounding areas for the next 24 hours will see mainly clear sky. “Fog or misty conditions are very likely to prevail during morning hours. Mist or hazy conditions are very likely to prevail during night hours. The minimum temperatures are likely to be below normal by 2°C to 3°C during the next two days. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be around 29°C and 12°C respectively,” the bulletin said.

Meanwhile, according to data from Telangana Development Planning Society (TGDPS), between December 20 and 21, a total of 14 out of 33 districts recorded temperatures below 10°C. Kohir in Sangareddy recorded the lowest minimum temperature of 5.3°C.

This was followed by 6.9°C in Moinabad (Rangareddy), 7°C in Nawabpet (Vikarabad), 7.2°C in Tiryani (Kumaram Bheem Asifabad), 7.6°C in Bheempoor (Adilabad), 7.9°C in Yeldurthy (Medak) and Gandhari (Kamareddy), 8.6°C in Saloora (Nizamabad), 8.9°C in Akbarpet (Siddipet), 9.1°C in Uppal (Medchal Malkajgiri), 9.4°C in Pembi (Nirmal), 9.5°C in Narayanpet (Narayanpet), 9.8°C in Gandeed (Mahabubnagar) and 9.9°C in Rudrangi (Rajanna Sircilla).

The remaining 19 districts recorded temperatures ranging between 10°C and 13°C. Under the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) limits, University of Hyderabad recorded 8.3°C and Marredpally recorded 11.2°C.
