Hyderabad: In a key push toward agricultural reform, the Telangana Farmers’ Commission, headed by Chairman Kodanda Reddy, met Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy at his Jubilee Hills residence to submit a detailed report on crop diversification.

The meeting, also attended by Minister Wakiti Srihari, focused on strategies to encourage farmers to move away from traditional monocropping toward more sustainable and profitable alternatives.

During the discussion, the Chief Minister indicated that the government plans to hold a special debate in the State Assembly to examine crop diversification in depth. He stressed the need for a broad, inclusive policy approach that ensures any transition benefits farmers without disrupting livelihoods.

Revanth Reddy also asked the commission to carry out further studies and come back with practical, actionable recommendations that can help shape Telangana’s long-term agricultural strategy.

The initiative reflects the state government’s intent to gradually transform the agricultural landscape by promoting crop patterns that are both economically viable and better suited to soil health.
