Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy unveiled the Medaram Sammakka Saralamma Maha Jathara poster at his residence in Jubilee Hills on Sunday (December 21, 2025). Cabinet colleagues Seethakka, Adluri Laxman, Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, and Konda Surekha were among those present.
The Maha Jathara is scheduled to be held from January 29 to 31, 2026. The temple is undergoing expansion and development as part of the master plan unveiled by Chief Minister Revanth Reddy on September 23.
In a post on ‘X’, the Chief Minister paid rich tributes to legendary tribal icons Samakka and Saralamma, describing them as “gods among humans” who fought relentlessly for the rights of the poor and stood by the oppressed.
Mr. Reddy said that those who struggled in history for the cause of the downtrodden and made sacrifices for the weak are nothing short of divine figures for Telangana. He emphasised that the culture they upheld forms the very identity of the State, while their struggles constitute the core of Telangana’s history.
“Their sacrifices are a source of inspiration for generations,” the Chief Minister wrote, adding that their lives symbolise people’s resistance, courage and self-respect. He said the Congress Government has undertaken the modernisation of the sacred gaddelu (platforms) of Samakka and Saralamma at Medaram with a divine resolve. The initiative, he said, aims to preserve and present their glorious history in a more meaningful and enduring manner for future generations.
