Cloud burst reported in Chamoli, Tehri and Rudraprayag districts

Incidents of cloudbursts have been reported at different places in Uttarakhand. A cloudburst has occurred in Dewal block of Chamoli district. In which a husband and wife are reportedly missing and two people are injured, as well as 20 cattle are said to be buried under the debris. A cloudburst has also occurred in Genwali village of Bhilangana block of Tehri district. Fortunately, there is no report of any loss of life here. Apart from this, a cloudburst has also occurred in Rudraprayag. Heavy rain has caused extensive damage at many places including Chenagad, Bangar of Jakholi block.

The heavy rain that has been going on since late Thursday night continued on Friday as well. There has been heavy destruction due to cloudburst in Mopata of Tehsil Dewal on Thursday night. Some houses are reported to be buried under the debris.

Due to heavy rains, roads in Dewal have broken at many places. People in Tharali are also scared due to the rain since night. Heavy rains are also occurring in Adibadri, Karnaprayag.

Due to torrential rains in Karnaprayag, debris came from the mountain in Kaleshwar

Due to torrential rains in Karnaprayag, debris came from the mountain in Kaleshwar which entered people’s houses. Efforts are being made to remove the debris with the help of JCB machine. During this, the police was also present on the spot. The water level of Alaknanda and Pindar rivers has also increased. The road has been closed due to boulders and debris falling from the hills in Karnaprayag.

Cloudburst also in Bhilangana block of Tehri

An incident of cloud burst took place last night above Genwali village of Bhilangana block. District Disaster Management Officer Brijesh Bhatt said that there has been no loss of life due to cloudburst. Agricultural land, drinking water lines, power lines have been damaged. The Revenue Department team has left for Genwali village. Footbridges and paths have been damaged at different places.

As per the forecast, there seems to be no respite from rains in the coming days. Rain has been forecast in the state till September 2, with an orange alert in Dehradun, Nainital, Bageshwar and Pithoragarh districts on August 29.
