The Uttarakhand Transport Federation will not operate vehicles on routes in the Garhwal division on Wednesday, October 29. Buses, taxis, and maxis will remain halted from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. Federation officials decided to block traffic after negotiations with Transport Department officials failed. However, school buses, ambulances, and milk vehicles will be allowed to operate.
The Transport Federation has long been mobilized to resolve its seven-point demands. A meeting of the Transport Federation was held on Tuesday at the TGMO headquarters in Rishikesh. Representatives from nine transport companies affiliated with the Joint Rotation, as well as truck unions and taxi unions, attended the meeting. Federation officials sought the unions’ opinions on the blockade. Most representatives supported the blockade.
Upon receiving information about the blockade by the Federation, ARTO Administration RS Kataria and ARTO Enforcement Rashmi Pant arrived for talks. They assured them of resolving the demands. The Federation asked for this in writing. The talks between the two sides failed to reach any agreement. Following this, the Transport Federation announced a road blockade on all routes in the Garhwal division from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Wednesday.
