BJP to review lapses after TTAADC poll setback: Tripura CM Manik Saha

Agartala: Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha on Friday, April 17, night said the BJP will review its shortcomings in the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) elections after the party secured four seats in the 28-member council.

Responding to the poll outcome, Saha said the party would analyse the results “very meticulously” to identify lapses and work on them. He also appealed for peace, stating that electoral differences should not disturb harmony in the state.

“During elections, many things are said against each other, but those do not last. Elections come and go. My appeal to the people is to maintain peace across the state,” he told reporters at the party’s state headquarters.

On the party’s performance, Saha said results do not always match expectations and called for introspection. He thanked BJP workers for their efforts during the campaign and said the party would treat the verdict as an opportunity to improve.

The chief minister also congratulated the Tipra Motha Party, which registered a decisive victory in the elections, and extended his wishes to the winning candidates.

Saha said the party remains committed to its development agenda and would continue its outreach among the people. He acknowledged the role of grassroots workers in carrying the party’s message to households across the state.

According to the results declared on Friday, Tipra Motha won 24 seats in the council, while the BJP secured four. The Communist Party of India (Marxist) and the Indian National Congress did not make significant gains in the polls.

The TTAADC administers tribal areas covering about two-thirds of Tripura’s geographical area and is considered politically significant in the state.

There was no immediate response from opposition parties to Saha’s remarks.
