The BJP on Thursday (November 20, 2025) asked J&K Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to organise an all-party rally against terrorism at Srinagar’s Lal Chowk “to send across a stern message.”

“Condemnations and condolences alone were not enough. The Union Territory must send a clear message that every individual in J&K stands firmly against militancy. Political differences can wait, but the fight against terror cannot be delayed,” BJP spokesman Altaf Thakur said.

Referring to the Red Fort blast that left 13 civilians dead, Mr. Thakur said, “J&K should send out a loud, united message that each individual in the UT stands against terrorism in all its forms and shapes.”

He said all parties, communities and citizens should walk shoulder to shoulder for peace and dignity in the Valley. “Terror has no religion, no region, and no place in our society. A united voice from Lal Chowk will echo across the nation and strengthen the fight for a terror-free J&K,” Mr. Thakur said.

The BJP’s statement came a day after CM Abdullah alleged that all Kashmiris were “being portrayed as suspects after the Red Fort blast.” He also suggested that he too feared driving around in New Delhi in a vehicle with a J&K number on it.
