PRAYAGRAJ: Sangam city is hosting Bazm-e-Virasat from Dec 19 to 21, bringing together literature, music, cinema and intellectual discourse. The three-day event aims to reconnect the city with its composite heritage through performances, discussions and artistic exchanges.Sharing programme details, noted filmmaker Tigmanshu Dhulia and educationist Zafar Bakht told media on Wednesday that on first day of the event, the inauguration will take place from 11 am to 12:15 pm, followed by Dastan-e-Sarfaroshi by dastango Himanshu Bajpai, along with Vedant Bhardwaj and Ajay Tipanya from 12:30 pm to 1:30 pm. The afternoon’s highligh is Lantrani, a session on old Allahabad stories, by speakers Asif Lismani, Dhananjay Chopra, Qamar Agha and Abhay Awasthi.A discussion on Saints of Allahabad will be held from 4 pm to 5 pm with Prof Badri Narayan, Prof N R Farooqui and Siraj Ajmali. The evening programme includes a Nirgun recital by Prahlad Tipanya and his group, followed by a Mushaira and Kavi Sammelan featuring poets Sampat Saral, Azhar Iqbal and Popular Meeruti.Second day’s events will will begin with an Indian fusion ensemble by the Pakshee Band from 11 am to 12:15 pm, followed by a discussion on cricket from 12:30 pm to 1:30 pm featuring former cricketer Mohammad Kaif, Praveen Kumar, Ashish Winston Zaidi and it will moderated by senior sports journalist Ayaz Memon. The Stars of Our City session in the afternoon will highlight actors including Aditya Srivastava and Faisal Malik. Later, Story of Our City will bring together writers such as Gopal Chaturvedi and Prof Neelum Saran Gour. The evening will feature a discussion in memory of Fareed and Nikhat Kazmi with filmmakers Ashutosh Gowariker, Leena Yadav and Anurag Basu, followed by a live concert by Indian Ocean.On the concluding day, a discussion on poet Suryakant Tripathi ‘Nirala’ will open the proceedings, followed by a ghazal recital by Rashmi Agarwal. ‘Allahabad in Literature: The Work and The Workplace’ will feature noted writers Mamta Kalia and Vibhuti Narain Rai. An Actors’ Table discussion will bring together performers including Neena Gupta and Gajraj Rao. The festival will conclude with Dastan-e-Karn by Mahmood Farooqui and a musical presentation titled Scintillating Seventies by the Voice and Trumpet Band.
