YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy on Wednesday alleged that the Andhra Pradesh Police had misrepresented themselves as U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) while seeking the removal of posts from X.

In a statement posted on X, Mr. Jagan alleged that the incident reflected a pattern of what he termed “Red Book governance” under Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, and that it was tantamount to politically motivated harassment.

While claiming that X had confirmed that the takedown request originated from an official Andhra Pradesh Police email address and not from the FBI, the YSRCP president alleged that FBI identity was used in the communication.

He questioned who had authorised the request and why was FBI’s identity allegedly used in the communication. He sought clarity on whether the move was intended to suppress criticism of the State government over issues such as alleged non-fulfilment of Super Six and Super Seven promises, DSC recruitment controversy, Amaravati-related allegations, rising State debt and other governance issues.

The YSRCP president alleged that the police force should uphold the law rather than be used to suppress political criticism. He also said that the alleged invoking of the name of a foreign investigative agency in a social media takedown request had affected the credibility of the State police.

Mr. Jagan urged the government to focus on addressing drought-related problems faced by farmers, creating employment opportunities and accelerating development.

“If the government is confident of its record, it should answer criticism with performance and transparency and not with censorship and harassment,” he said.
