Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Monday reiterated that the GST 2.0 reforms would spur economic growth and called upon citizens to buy Made-in-India (Swadeshi) products to propel the national economy to a higher trajectory.

Speaking in the Legislative Assembly on the State government’s GST implementation programme, Mr. Naidu said the government had set up a committee of Ministers to ensure that the benefits of the reduced GST reach the masses. “Our goal is to uplift the living standards of the poor and the middle class. The GST, along with the Super Six and P4 programmes, will collectively help achieve the Swarna Andhra vision by 2047,” he said.

The Chief Minister noted that small businesses would gain significantly from the reduced GST rates, while zero per cent tax on most essential goods would put more money in the hands of common people. He added that GST 2.0 would enhance Ease of Doing Business and create opportunities for Indian products to compete as global brands.

Mr. Naidu emphasised that buying Indian products directly contributes to national development. The State government has prepared an action plan to publicise the GST rate cuts through 65,000 meetings and awareness programmes from Dasara to Deepavali.
