Hyderabad: For DB Ravi Teja, former Hyderabad captain, it has been a “totally different and memorable experience, full of emotions” to witness and share the winning moments of the Royal Challengers Bengaluru in Ahmedabad on Tuesday night.

The 37-year-old Ravi Teja, who was one of the four Talent Scouts for RCB this season watching the Leagues in Tamil Nadu, Kerala, UP, Karnataka and Delhi, said it was an “unbelievable experience to be there with the winning RCB team after it clinched the trophy against Punjab Kings”.

“The celebrations were pure joy and also reminded me of how much they wanted the trophy. And, when even someone like the great Virat Kohli celebrated the triumph with such emotions, one easily understands the feelings of the other members,” Ravi Teja informed ‘Telangana Today’.

“To be honest, to be present and bask in that celebration was once in a lifetime experience,” said the former Hyderabad opener, who played 78 first-class games and scored 4722 runs, including 12 centuries and 22 fifties.

“For me personally, it was the second-time experience of ‘being’ a winning team member, having gone through these moments in 2009 with DeccanChargers (he played eight matches that season),” Ravi Teja said.

“Frankly, Virat is such a humble personality, so different from what everyone sees him on the field. A very caring legend, who makes it a point for everyone in the team to be comfortable,” the RCB Talent Scout said. “Obviously, the photo opportunity with him was a truly memorable feeling for me,” he said.

“Yes, there were tense moments because of the ups and downs in the final. But, once Punjab captain Shreyas Iyer got out and the way Rajat Patidar employed left-arm spinner Krunal Pandya to strike those telling blows, the game clearly changed in RCB’s way,” said Ravi Teja, who has a two-year contract with RCB as Talent Scout.

Interestingly, a couple of the talents spotted by Ravi Teja included Swastik Chinkara, whom RCB mentor Dinesh Karthik described as ‘raw uncut diamond which needs to be polished before being unleashed at the right time’ and Abhinandan Singh.
