AdtU hosts first graduation ceremony for int’l students

Assam down town University (AdtU) on Friday hosted its first Graduation Ceremony for International Students, marking a milestone in the institution’s efforts to strengthen its global engagement and celebrate the achievements of its international student community.

Held on June 26 at K Block, 5th Floor of the university campus in Guwahati, the ceremony honoured international students graduating from Undergraduate and Postgraduate programmes.

The graduating cohort included students from Bhutan, Bangladesh, Nepal, Lesotho, Nigeria, Liberia and several other countries, reflecting the university’s growing international presence.

The event began with the Academic Procession, followed by the University Anthem. Chancellor Dr NN Dutta formally declared the ceremony open, while Vice Chancellor Dr NC Talukdar welcomed the gathering and congratulated the graduating students on their academic achievements.

The ceremony featured the conferral of degrees on Undergraduate and Postgraduate graduates in recognition of their academic accomplishments. Following the presentation of degrees, the graduates took the Oath of Dedication, pledging to uphold the values of integrity, professionalism and service to society in their future careers.

Addressing the gathering, Chancellor Dr NN Dutta congratulated the graduates and encouraged them to become global ambassadors of knowledge, innovation and responsible leadership.

Speaking on the occasion, Prof. (Dr.) Mrinmoy Basak, Director, Directorate of International Affairs, said:

“The First Graduation Ceremony for International Students is a defining milestone in Assam down town University’s journey towards becoming a truly global institution. Our international graduates have enriched our campus with their diverse cultures, perspectives, and aspirations. Today, we celebrate not only their academic achievements but also the lifelong connections they have built within the AdtU community. We are confident that they will serve as ambassadors of excellence, carrying forward the values of innovation, inclusivity, and global citizenship wherever their journeys take them.”

The ceremony concluded with a Vote of Thanks delivered by Prof. (Dr.) Mrinmoy Basak, followed by the National Anthem and the departure of the Academic Procession.

The event was attended by members of the university leadership, faculty, staff, graduates, parents and distinguished guests.
