A massive fire broke out in two coaches of the Trivandrum-Hazrat Nizamuddin Rajdhani Express (12431). The incident occurred about 110 kilometers from Ratlam, Madhya Pradesh. The fire caused panic among passengers. According to reports, a fire broke out in coach B-1 of the Trivandrum-Hazrat Nizamuddin Rajdhani Express (12431), which was heading towards Delhi-Nizamuddin, between Luni and Vikramgarh at around 5:30 am on Sunday (May 17) morning, disrupting the Delhi-Mumbai rail route.
Smoke was suddenly seen rising from the train, and within a short time, the fire escalated. The third AC and SLR coaches were engulfed in flames. The flames were visible as far as the eye could see, causing panic in the area.
However, the guard immediately informed the loco pilot, after which the train was immediately stopped. Several trains had to be stopped at various stations. The flames rising into the sky created panic in the area.
Upon receiving news of the accident, a relief and rescue team from the Kota Railway Division rushed to the scene. The fire broke out in coach number B1, carrying 68 passengers. Within seconds, the fire spread throughout the entire coach. The guard first alerted the loco pilot about the fire. The train was then stopped and passengers were evacuated. RPF staff and other personnel on board immediately began deboarding passengers from the coach. The entire coach was evacuated within approximately 15 minutes. Senior DCM Saurabh Jain stated that a fire was reported on train number 12431 Trivandrum-Hazrat Nizamuddin Rajdhani Express. Two coaches were affected. All passengers were safely evacuated. There were no casualties. The cause of the fire is being investigated. The fire caused panic among passengers. As soon as the train stopped, people began alighting with their luggage. As a precaution, the railway immediately shut down the OHE (Other Electrical System), which temporarily halted train operations on this route.
