Guwahati: The 35th Battalion of Assam Rifles has been conferred with the Governor of Tripura Citation 2026 in recognition of its exemplary service and notable role in maintaining peace, ensuring security, and extending humanitarian assistance in the state. The award was presented at a formal Investiture Ceremony held at Lok Bhavan in Agartala.
Since its deployment in Agartala in September 2024, the battalion has remained actively involved in multiple security and welfare-related operations. It has earned widespread appreciation for its disciplined approach and effective execution of duties across a range of responsibilities in the region.
A key focus area for the unit has been its active role in anti-narcotics operations under the broader “Nasha Mukt North East” initiative. The battalion personnel have consistently worked to dismantle drug trafficking networks, prevent illegal cultivation, and assist enforcement agencies in addressing related criminal activities.
Alongside these efforts, the battalion has also carried out routine area domination patrols, established mobile vehicle checkpoints, and taken part in coordinated security measures with the civil administration, police, and intelligence agencies. These joint operations have contributed significantly to strengthening the overall security apparatus in Tripura.
The battalion also played an important role during severe flood situations in the state. Operating under challenging conditions, Assam Rifles personnel carried out rescue operations, evacuated stranded people, and ensured the distribution of essential relief materials. Their prompt response helped bring relief and restore normalcy in several affected areas.
In addition to security duties, the unit has been actively involved in various civic outreach initiatives, including medical camps, awareness programmes, educational activities, and community welfare drives. These engagements have helped strengthen trust and improve coordination between the armed forces and local communities.
Through its consistent dedication and wide-ranging service, the 35 Assam Rifles has received strong appreciation from both the government and the people of Tripura, culminating in its recognition with the prestigious Governor’s Citation for 2026.
