Prayagraj: A criminal carrying a Rs 25,000 cash reward on his head and wanted in connection with the contractual roadways driver murder case was injured and arrested after an encounter in the city late Sunday night, police said.The police recovered a country-made pistol of .32 bore, two used and one unused cartridge, and a motorcycle. He was admitted to Colvin Hospital for treatment.Police said a joint team of SOG, Dhoomanganj, and Colonelganj police received a tip-off that Ali and his father Nooren, residents of Mariyadeeh, were taking shelter at a dilapidated building near Lal Bihara. They asked them to surrender. However, when the police team surrounded them, they opened fire. The cops retaliated. Ali was injured while his father managed to escape from the scene, taking advantage of the dark.Police said Ali has two criminal cases pending against him in different police stations of the district. Police said that Ali, along with his seven accomplices, was accused of killing a contractual roadways bus driver near Mundera Mandi petrol pump under the limits of Dhoomanganj police station last week.Meanwhile, police also arrested another wanted criminal identified as Kamran, a resident of Neemsaray near Subedarganj railway station road, on Monday afternoon while planning to escape. Cops also recovered one 0.315 bore country-made pistol along with one live and one used cartridge from his possession. He was also carrying a Rs 25,000 cash reward on his head. He was also involved in the killing of contractual roadways bus driver. While police managed to ensure the arrest of Ali and Kamran during separate encounters, five more criminals are still evading police actions. A total of seven criminals involved in the killing of the roadways driver were booked under section 101(1), 352, and 191(2)\3(5) of BNS and section 3(2)(V) of the SC\ST act.
