Niceair Delays First Flights Due To Weak Demand

Niceair’s management has postponed the start of operations until the latter half of the year after demand proved lower than expected, reports RÚV.

In December 2025, it was announced that the newly re-established Akureyri-based airline Niceair aimed to launch flights from North Iceland to Copenhagen in February 2026, with ticket sales starting on December 17.

However, demand for seats on the airline’s initial flights was lower than anticipated, prompting the company to delay the launch.

Passengers who had booked trips to Copenhagen next month were informed yesterday that the flights would not go ahead.

In a statement, Niceair said the delay followed a thorough review of bookings and other operational factors. The first flights are now planned for later in the year, provided certain operational and financial targets are met.

Customers who had booked flights will receive a full refund, plus a 25 percent credit.
