A new poll conducted by Prósent shows the Social Democratic Alliance (Samfylking) and the Centre Party (Miðflokkurinn) in the national lead. According to the survey, the Social Democrats’ popularity has decreased slightly, measuring at 30.1 percent compared to last October’s 32 percent.

The Centre Party scores 19.6 percent of the opinion poll, skyrocketing from 9.9 percent since the last survey.

The Independence Party (Sjálfstæðisflokkurinn) and the Liberal Reform Party (Viðreisn) would receive a similar amount of votes in the event of an election, measuring at 13.7 and 13.5 percent respectively. Both parties have lost following compared to the last survey.

Other political parties would not receive more than 10 percent of the total vote. Almost eight percent of voters would opt for the People’s Party (Flokkur fólksins) and 5.9 percent for the Progressive Party (Framsóknarflokkurinn).

The rest of the active parties would not be eligible for a parliamentary representative, as they do not reach the necessary five percent threshold: the Pirate (3.6 percent), Left Green (3.3 percent), Socialists (2.4 percent) and Democratic Parties (0.2 percent) would all lose their MP positions.

Women are more likely to vote for the Social Democrats compared to men, 36 and 26 percent respectively. Among Centre Party voters, men are more likely to vote for the party than women, 25 percent and 13 percent respectively.
