On October 19, celebrated cartoonist and comedian Hugleikur Dagsson announced that he’d been “kicked out of Meta”. According to Hugleikur, the reason for his expulsion off Meta channels Facebook and Instagram was because of a stick-figure cartoon.
In recent years, Hugleikur has published cartoons voicing anti-fascist, anti-genocide sentiment on his social media and in select issues of the Reykjavík Grapevine.
In his Facebook post, Hugleikur adds: “To be clear: I haven’t been cancelled by woke culture. I’ve been cancelled by a company.”
Since his cancellation, Hugleikur told the Grapevine that he has regained access to his profiles. “I will reconsider how I post from here on out,” he added.
For Hugleikur fans looking for alternative methods of following the artist, Hugleikur is now on Bluesky and Patreon.
