For the third year running, Hungary will host Neapolitan Pizza Night — an increasingly popular culinary event that has quickly become a tradition. On September 19, over 50 pizzerias and restaurants across the country will offer authentic Neapolitan pizzas at half price, making it a must for pizza lovers, writes We Love Budapest.
This year’s event lands on a Friday, adding to the buzz, and participating venues will each offer three types of pizzas at 50% off, while supplies last. Some restaurants are accepting advance reservations to guarantee seating, while others aim to recreate a true southern Italian atmosphere by serving guests on a first-come, first-served
basis — so early arrival is strongly recommended. Official hours are from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m..
Recognized by UNESCO since 2017, as part of the world’s intangible cultural heritage, the traditional Neapolitan pizza is known for its long fermentation, hand-stretched dough, airy crust, and juicy center — all baked in a matter of minutes in a blazing hot oven.
Hungary has developed a strong Neapolitan pizza scene in recent years, producing a number of skilled pizzaiolos and beloved pizzerias. The event’s founder, Gábor Nóth, recalls his own introduction to the art form during a trip to Naples:
What struck me was the simplicity, the high-quality ingredients, and the theatrical ovens. You watch your pizza being made in front of your eyes in just a few minutes — all in that lively, borderline chaotic Neapolitan atmosphere. The goal of this event is to spread the word: real pizza is Neapolitan, and Neapolitan is the real deal! Let us enjoy it together — celebrate the Pizza Napoletana!”
This year’s Neapolitan Pizza Night offers a wide range of participating locations from Tatabánya (northern Hungary) to Veszprém (near Lake Balaton). In Budapest, standout names include Monalizza, Forni di Napoli, Circo (two locations), MOTO (four locations), Fermento, and Passata, among others.
At venues that require reservations, bookings can be made until noon on September 19, via links available on the event’s official website, which also lists all participating pizzerias.
Guests should expect long lines at many locations, and the half-price offer is only valid while supplies last. To ensure as many people as possible can enjoy the promotion, each guest is limited to one discounted pizza. Organizers will post real-time updates on the event’s Facebook and Instagram pages throughout the evening.
