In June 2026, the average number of employed persons aged 15–74 was 4 million 646 thousand. The number of unemployed persons was 214 thousand and the unemployment rate was 4.4%.

In the period April–June 2026, the average number of employed persons aged 15–74 was 4 million 633 thousand, 28 thousand fewer than a year earlier. The number of employed people remained unchanged among males at 2 million 473 thousand, while among females it decreased by 29 thousand to 2 million 160 thousand.

4 million 439 thousand people worked in the domestic primary labour market, 50 thousand fewer than in the same period of the previous year. The number of public workers was 70 thousand, while that of people working abroad was 124 thousand.

Among people aged 15–64 the employment rate was essentially the same as a year ago, at 75.0%. This rate was 79.1% for men and 70.7% for women.

In the period April–June 2026, the average number of unemployed people aged 15–74 was 218 thousand, the unemployment rate was 4.5%.

The number of unemployed was 106 thousand for males and 112 thousand for females. The rate reached 4.1% among men and 4.9% among women.

The average duration of job search was 12.5 months, 36.7% of the unemployed had been looking for a job for less than 3 months, which is 4.6 percentage points lower than in the same period of the previous year. The proportion of those looking for a job for 4-11 months increased by 1.0 percentage points to 28.0%, while the share of unemployed people who had been seeking for work at least a year grew by 3.6 percentage points to 35.3%.

According to the administrative data of the National Employment Service (https://nfsz.munka.hu/), the number of registered job seekers at the end of June 2026 decreased by 3.8% to 211 thousand compared to a year earlier.
