International hunting, fishing fair opens in Budapest

The 32nd Fishing, Hunting and Arms International Exhibition (FeHoVa) opened at the Hungexpo fair grounds in Budapest on Thursday.

The fair, which boasts 200 exhibitors from thirteen countries, runs through Sunday, the Hungarian News Agency wrote.

Deputy Prime Minister Zsolt Semjén, who heads the Hungarian Hunter’s National Association, said hunting now generated annual profits of HUF 3bn. He added that the number of licenced hunters in the country had risen to 71,000.

Philipp Harmer, who heads the International Council for Game and Wildlife Conservation (CIC), said Hungary, with its diverse game and leaders with an understanding of hunting, was one of the best places in Europe for the activity.
