Hungarian voting locations at foreign missions changed

The location of voting at foreign missions has changed in 25 cities compared with the 2022 parliamentary election, and voters will be able to cast their ballots at six new foreign missions, the National Election Office (NVI) said in a statement.

Based on the experience of previous elections and the expected number of voters, the foreign ministry has decided that, where a large turnout was expected, polling stations are set up in venues with a greater capacity, with a view to reducing queuing, the statement said.

Voters will also be able to cast their ballots at six new foreign missions (though voting in Dakar, Senegal, will not be possible this year).

In the UK and Northern Ireland, voting stations at foreign missions have been relocated in London, Manchester and Edinburgh, while in Spain new locations are available in Barcelona, Madrid and Malaga. In Germany, the polling stations in Berlin and Stuttgart remain unchanged, but voters at the foreign missions in Dusseldorf, Munich, and Nuremberg will cast their ballots at new locations.

On the American continent, those registered at foreign missions will vote at new locations in Houston, Mexico City and Panama City. In Asia, voters will cast their ballots at different locations from four years ago in Dhaka, Bangladesh, Shanghai, China, and Vientiane, Laos.

In Europe, new polling stations at foreign missions have been designated in Brussels, Copenhagen, Dublin, Warsaw, Bern, Miercurea Ciuc, Kyiv, Ankara, Nicosia, and Valletta. On the African continent, a new polling venue has been designated in Lusaka in Zambia, at the office of the Hungarian Embassy in Pretoria.

In addition, voters will be able to cast their ballots at six new foreign missions in April: at the Osaka consulate in Japan, at the embassy in Chad (N’Djamena), at the Nairobi embassy office in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (Kinshasa), at the embassy in Armenia (Yerevan), at the Nairobi embassy office in Rwanda (Kigali), and at the Nairobi embassy office in Tanzania (Dar es Salaam).
