Air quality has reached hazardous levels in several parts of the country due to high concentrations of particulate matter, according to a map published on Thursday by the National Public Health and Pharmaceutical Centre (NNGYK), based on measurements taken the previous day.

The air hygiene index system uses four categories: acceptable, objectionable, unhealthy, and hazardous.

According to the data released on Thursday, air quality is classified as hazardous in Debrecen and Békéscsaba. Measurements also show that the quality of air is unhealthy in Nyíregyháza, Sajószentpéter and Putnok.
