Booking a hotel online can be a risky business if it turns out that the photos have been enhanced and it’s actually grubbier, smaller and less friendly than it looked. But all is exactly as it appears at the Adina Apartment Hotel in Budapest’s District XIII, where the completion of a nine-month, room by room renovation this year has everything spick and span.
The Adina offers stylish accommodation with contemporary design for business and holiday travellers, and both short-term and long-term stays. In total there are 97 spacious studio rooms or one- and two-bedroom apartments, and guests can find a fully equipped modern kitchen, laundry, spacious living area and big beds, to fully spread out in air-conditioned comfort.
For further pleasure the hotel has a lengthy indoor heated swimming pool with jacuzzi, plus a sauna and fitness-inducing gymnasium. Outside is a pleasantly leafy courtyard and children’s play area that can also be enjoyed from the vantage point of the apartments’ private balconies. A buffet is available in the breakfast room each morning.
Business and pleasure are catered for with meeting and theatre-style conference rooms, facilities and complimentary WiFi. The hotel is 45 minutes from Budapest Airport and has underground parking. Alternatively, public transport is just a short walk, with trains at Nyugati pályaudvar (West Railway Station), the Lehel tér underground station and buses.
Lehel tér also has an authentic Hungarian fresh food market where locals shop for their meat, fruit, vegetables and pastries. Supermarket chains Auchan and Lidl are a couple of minutes walk from the Adina, and popular Pozsonyi út is a hotspot for cafés and restaurants.
The Adina is only a short stroll from the Danube River and over the water is tranquil Margaret Island with its thermal spas and an abundance of greenery. The huge WestEnd City Centre Shopping Mall isn’t far off in the opposite direction, next to the Lehel tér market.
This location offers the best of both worlds, whether for tourists spending a few days in Budapest or for such as business people, expatriates and diplomats moving to the city and needing somewhere to call home for weeks or months while they settle in and seek permanent accommodation. The Adina fits in the whole family.
For them it’s their ”other address” for a while, with all facilities on hand, just like at home. Some people have stayed for months, and they’re in a living, breathing neighbourhood allowing them to ”live like the locals” and absorb the Hungarian culture.
The Adina’s studios are 30-35 square metres, the one-bedroom apartments 50-70 square metres and the two-bedroom apartments 75-90 square metres, with the studios having a kitchenette and the others having fully equipped kitchens and washing machines, plus lounges and dining area. The kitchens have all the mod cons including fridge, microwave, stove, dishwasher and detergent, with the option of a grocery delivery service.
All three varieties of room have air-conditioning, a work desk, LCD TV with Miracast Mirroring System and radio program, mini-bar, tea and coffee amenities, safe, iron and ironing board, and shower or bath with amenities and hairdryer.
