Ram censures govt over not publishing mid-year report

Transparency and accountability activist Christopher Ram has excoriated the People’s Progressive Party Civic-led administration for violating the law by failing to table required statutory reports and singled out among them the Mid-2025 report on Guyana’s economic performance.

At the minimum, he said, the government could have published the report in the Official Gazette. He noted the dissolution of Parliament for the September 1 general and regional elections, and the prolonged delay to convene the Parliament more than one month after the polls.

Ram, a Chartered Accountant and Attorney-at-Law, said the failure of the government to publish the report, in clear breach of the Fiscal Management and Accountability Act, signalled the demolition of good governance.
