The police say they are investigating the murder of Courtney Evans, a 49-year-old businessman from New York, USA, and Coomacka Mines, Linden, which occurred at about 8 pm on 31st August 2025 at Coomacka Mines, Linden.
According to investigations, the police say that Evans, along with his brother and a friend, were at the Coomacka Mines Beach, ‘liming’ and consuming alcohol. When they arrived at the beach, they saw four males and a female (who were unknown to them) also drinking beers. The female allegedly called Tyrone Otis Evans (brother of the deceased) a derogatory name. An argument subsequently ensued between Tyrone Evans and the female, and they chucked each other. The police say that the matter escalated into a brawl between the two groups after which the female and her group left the scene in a white minibus.
Courtney Evans was taken to the Linden Hospital Complex and died while receiving treatment. He suffered wounds to the following areas:- one to right side of his lower back, one to the right side of his head and one to the left elbow.
The following persons who suffered injuries were escorted to the Linden Hospital Complex:
1. Tyrone Otis Evans (brother of the deceased), a 47-year-old truck driver from Coomacka Mines. He suffered a wound to the forehead.
2. Joel Harding, a 28-year-old construction worker from Coomacka Mines, Linden. He sustained wounds to his left arm and right elbow.
3. Evan Herman, a 28-year-old from Coomacka Mines, Linden. He sustained two wounds to the left side of his head.
Tyrone Evans and Joel Harding were treated and sent away. Evan Herman underwent surgery and his condition is listed as stable.
Courtney Evans’ body was escorted to the G.Jestco Funeral Home, awaiting an autopsy.
The female suspect (a 22-year-old teacher) and one of the male suspects were arrested and are in custody, assisting with the investigation. Police are looking for the other suspects as investigations continue.
