President Irfaan Ali
`…this government has a very elaborate agenda for the upliftment of your life’
President Irfaan Ali yesterday did not commit to there being a cash transfer to citizens before Christmas but said that his government will deliver on its promises and a cash grant was only a microcosm of the developmental agenda in store for citizens.
“Our government has always delivered. I have said that there are a series of initiatives that I’ll be announcing. And whilst you may restrict your thoughts to just a cash bonus, this government has a very elaborate agenda for the upliftment of your life,” the President responded when asked by Stabroek News for an update on the cash bonus promise he had hinted at during the 2025 Elections Campaign.
The cash grant has galvanised public interest particularly as it is seen as a distribution from the oil wealth accruing to the country.
Speaking on the sidelines of the swearing in of regional chairs and vice chairs at the Arthur Chung Conference Centre, Ali said that the plans are “for building prosperity for you; for building prosperity for your community; for empowering you; for giving you the opportunity to have a life where you have the access to the best healthcare, best education, home ownership, reduced interest rates, [and] access to low-interest business development loans with no collateral.”
