Winners: 2025 FROC Secondary School Essay Competition

As part of its Awareness and Public Participation programme, the Fiscal Resilience Oversight Committee (FROC) is pleased to announce the winners of the 2025 FROC Secondary School Essay Competition, held under the theme Empowering Youth to Contribute to Fiscal Sustainability and Fiscal Resilience.

The topic for the essay was The Fiscal Resilience Act: Its Origin and Its Application for Strengthening Government Operations and Improving the Standard of Living of the Population. The FROC is delighted to announce the following winners:

  • First Place: Jeffon Timothy Alexis, Form 5 student at Westerhall Secondary School
  • Second Place: Star Haynes, Form 5 student at Westerhall Secondary School
  • Third Place: Aiden Victor, Form 5 student at St George’s Institute

The following students received awards

  • Chairman’s Award: Carmella George, Form 3 student at Grenada SDA Comprehensive School
  • Honourable Mention: Asiah Victor, Form 3 student at Anglican High School

The FROC extends congratulations to the students and expresses sincere appreciation to the teachers and school administrators who supported and guided the students throughout the competition. The FROC appreciates the support of the Ministry of Education, the Essay Committee and the sponsors of the FROC 2025 Essay Competition.

The FROC and the Public Utilities Regulatory Commission (PURC) would collaborate for the 2026 FROC Essay and Creative Writing Competition. The theme and topic chosen for the competition are:

  • Theme: Fiscal and Climate Resilience: Reinforcing Grenada’s Future Through Sustainable Public Investment
  • Topic: Exploring the Fiscal Resilience Act: Leveraging Climate-Resilient Public Investment and Renewable Energy to Enhance Government Operations and Sustainable Development
