At the headquarters of the Embassy of Cuba in Grenada, 2 memorandums of understanding (MOUs) were signed between both governments, aimed at expanding cooperation in the field of education.

The agreements cover special education and the literacy project Yo sí puedo, with the purpose of strengthening bilateral collaboration in this sector.

On behalf of Cuba, the documents were signed by Ambassador Yadirys Echenique Paz, who emphasised that these initiatives form part of the solidarity vocation of the Greater Antilles and its commitment to human development in Grenada.

Representing the Grenadian government were Lorraine St Louis Nedd and Elvis Morain, permanent secretaries of the Ministry of Education of Grenada, who highlighted the importance of these agreements in addressing specific needs of the population and ensuring opportunities for inclusive learning. They underlined that cooperation with Cuba constitutes a pillar in the national strategy for human resource development.

During the ceremony, both parties agreed that the signing of these memorandums opens new perspectives for joint projects, both in teacher training and in the application of methodologies proven in Cuba and other countries of Latin America and the Caribbean.

The signing of these memorandums takes place in the year of the 47th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Cuba and Grenada. The occasion also served to recall that, for decades, Cuba has made a decisive contribution to education and professional training in Grenada, accompanying generations of young people in their academic preparation.
