RGPF investigate bush fire at La Calome, St David

The Royal Grenada Police Force (RGPF) is currently investigating the cause of a bush fire that destroyed approximately 10 acres of land, mainly cultivated with sugar cane, on Wednesday, 25 February 2026, at La Calome, St David.

At approximately 10:09 pm, officers attached to the Fire Department responded to a report of a bush fire. Upon arrival, they observed flames and smoke emanating from a cane field, which had spread to several clumps of bamboo. The fire crew acted swiftly for approximately 4 hours, utilising over 6,000 gallons of water to contain and extinguish the blaze.

On Thursday, 26 February 2026, at 4:48 am, another report was received of the fire reigniting, which posed no significant threat. The fire crew promptly responded, monitoring the affected area to ensure the fire was fully extinguished and to prevent further spread.
