Republic Bank commends MWAG on successful media development programme

Republic Bank commends the Media Workers Association of Grenada (MWAG) on the successful completion of a one-week Journalism Training Programme.

Held from 15–19 June at the National Cricket Stadium, the programme brought together media professionals, aspiring journalists, and young communicators for intensive training designed to strengthen journalism standards, storytelling skills, and ethical reporting within Grenada’s media landscape.

The workshop provided participants with practical instruction in news writing, interviewing techniques, story development, ethical journalism, and professional confidence-building, while creating opportunities for mentorship and engagement with experienced media practitioners.

Managing Director of Republic Bank Naomi De Allie commended MWAG for spearheading the initiative and highlighted the importance of investing in professional development within the media sector. “At Republic Bank, we recognise the vital role that journalists and media practitioners play in informing, educating, and empowering our communities. A strong and responsible media sector contributes significantly to national development, transparency, and public engagement. We are therefore proud to have supported a programme that helps strengthen the skills and capacity of both current and future media professionals.”

De Allie further noted that the bank’s support reflects its broader commitment to initiatives that foster education, knowledge-sharing, and sustainable community development. “The participants in this programme represent the future of journalism in Grenada. By investing in their growth and development, we are helping to build a more informed society and a stronger communications environment for generations to come.”

The training was facilitated by Johnson John Rose, a respected regional media professional with extensive experience in journalism, broadcasting, communications, and media leadership across the Caribbean. Drawing on his wealth of industry knowledge and practical expertise, John Rose guided participants through key aspects of modern journalism, while sharing valuable insights on professional standards, ethical reporting, and effective storytelling in today’s rapidly evolving media environment. The quality of instruction and mentorship provided has undoubtedly contributed to the programme’s success and will leave a lasting impact on the recipients.

Republic Bank extends congratulations to all participants who successfully completed the programme and expresses appreciation to MWAG for this partnership in delivering this important initiative.

As a socially responsible institution, Republic Bank remains committed to supporting programmes that create opportunities for learning, personal growth, and national development across Grenada and the wider Caribbean.
